A absolutely delightful bibliophile's dream book!
In this collection of letters, serving as a memoir, New Yorker Helene Hanff slowly builds her antiquarian book collection, and her friendships with the stiff-upper-lipped British booksellers at 84 CHaring Cross Road.
Starting as a professional, formal purchase arrangement, through rationing gifts from across the atlantic, ending with a decades long friendship conducted through letter after letter.
I loved this small, short, delightful volume of a book. It's perfect escapist, nostalgic, bibliophile warmth as the American lays siege to British politness. You'll ens wanting to learn more and more about these characters beyond these snapshots.
