Okay, I know I'm late to the party with this one.
But I can't stop thinking about the vivid characters, setting, storyline.
Ng manages to explore so much depth within a relatively short novel and I was on tenterhooks throughout, waiting on new information and a deeper understanding for the cast of characters.
Weighty themes; interracial adoption, the weight of secrets, our history and how this shapes our identity, all come together in beautifully written but not overcomplicated prose.
A peeling back of secrets throughout means this truly deserves the cliche of 'page turner I couldn't put down'.
