The Midnight Library | Matt Haig

Blurb: "Between life and death there is a library. When Nora Seed finds herself in the Midnight Library, she has a chance to make things right. Up until now, her life has been full of misery and regret. She feels she has let everyone down, including herself. But things are about to change."

I love every Matt Haig book, and this was no different, Poignant, heart breaking and unique.

There's No Such Thing As An Easy Job | Kikuko Tsumura

Blurb: "A young woman walks into an employment agency and requests a job that requires no reading, no writing - and ideally, very little thinking."

A very interesting, thought provoking and witty look into the culture of work, capitalism, and finding meaning among all of the strangeness this brings. Particularly interesting given the current state of the world, where all of these questions have been given a new found meaning,

Earthlings | Sayaka Murata

Blurb: "A dark and magical reckoning with what it might take to survive a shattered life, Earthlings is an exhilarating cosmic flight that will leave you reeling."

This is the most unique, strange and uncomfortable novel I have ever read. In the best possible way, I've never read something that turns society as we know it on it's head and forces a completely new and unfiltered look at us as people.

Exciting Times | Naoise Dolan

Blurb: "Politically alert, heartbreakingly raw, and dryly funny, Exciting Times is thrillingly attuned to the great freedoms and greater uncertainties of modern love. In stylish, uncluttered prose, Naoise Dolan dissects the personal and financial transactions that make up a life-and announces herself as a singular new voice."

This was a fantastically accomplished debut novel and left me wanting more from this author, with the fantastic dry wit, political discourse and exploration of modern life and love leaving me jealous of Dolan's abilities to construct this fab narrative.
